Employment of Butchers & Meat Cutters By State


The U.S. Labor Dept. started to track butchers & meat cutter jobs  by state beginning in 2012. I made a comparison from 2012 to 2015 by state to see what states increased in butcher & meat cutter jobs  and which states declined. This study does not include packing plant employees. Only supermarket and butcher shops big, medium and small.

 

California went from 20,280 to 20,650 jobs. A gain of 370 jobs or 1.8%

 

Texas went from 10,920 to 10,400 jobs. A <loss> of 500 jobs or 4.5%

 

N.Y. State went from 5,170 to 5,800 jobs. A gain of 630 jobs or 12%

 

WA. State went from 2,850 to 3,600 jobs. A gain of 750 jobs or 26%

 

FL. went from 8,830 to 10,650 jobs. A gain of 1820 jobs or 21%

 

GA. went from 3,310 to 4,000 jobs. A gain of 21%

 

PA. went from 7,790 to 5,810 jobs. A <loss> of 1980 jobs or 25%

 

ME. went from 710 to 670 jobs. A <loss> of 40 jobs or 6%

 

N.H. went from 900 to 520 jobs. A <loss> of 380 jobs or 42%

 

VT. went from 220 to 210 jobs. A <loss> of 10 jobs or 4.5%

 

MA. went from 2,000 to 1860 jobs. A <loss> of 140 jobs or 7 %.

 

R.I. went from 420 to 450 jobs. A gain of 30 jobs or 7%

 

CT. went from 850 to 780 jobs. A <loss> of 30 jobs or 3.5%

 

N. J. went from 3,840 to 3,440 jobs. A <loss> of 400 jobs or 10%

 

DE. went from 360 to 400 jobs. A gain of 40 jobs or 11%

 

MD. & D.C. went from 2,280 to 1,550 jobs. A <loss> of 730 jobs. or 32%

 

VA. went from 3,190 to 2,580 jobs. A <loss> of 610 jobs or 19%

 

WV. went from 530 to 620 jobs. A gain of 90 jobs or 17%.

 

N.C. went from 4,170 to 4,770 jobs. A gain of 600 jobs or 14%

 

S.C. went from 1,690 to 2,000 jobs. A gain of 18%

 

AL. went from 1,540 to 1,330 jobs. A <loss> of 210 jobs or 14%

 

TN. went from 2,550 to 2,820 jobs. A gain of 270 jobs. or 11%

 

Ky. went from 1,360 to 1,620 jobs. A gain of 260 jobs or 19%

 

Ohio went from 5,520 to 5,960 jobs. A gain of 440 jobs or 8%

 

IN. went from 2,770 to 2,380 jobs. A <loss> of 380 jobs or 14%

 

MI. went from 2,760 to 3,676 jobs. A gain of 916 jobs or 33%

 

MS. went from 1,210 to 1,276 jobs. A gain of 66 jobs or 5.5%

 

LA. went from 1,950 to 2,020 jobs. A gain of 70 jobs or 3.5%

 

MO. went from 3,060 to 2,670 jobs. A <loss> of 390 jobs or 13%

 

IL. went from 7,330 to 7,740 jobs. A gain of 410 jobs or 6%

 

WI. went from 2,330 to 2,020 jobs. A <loss> of 310 jobs or 13%
