Does your store do a senior discount day? And is it a zoo?

I guess its one of those ideas that's great in theory, but I have to think if the Suits worked the front lines once and a while they'd see things a little differently. It's just not a good idea to take the segment of your customer base that needs the most help and service and encourage them to all COME ON THE SAME DAY!

We are perennially understaffed and even with working everyone we still can't keep up with the demand. The checkout lines back up down the aisles because some of these people still write checks (I stood behind a man who took five minutes pulling out his checkbook and very methodically writing out a check long hand). The store doesn't have enough electric scooters and those that we do have are drained by mid-afternoon. I love old people (I am one after all) but after eight hours my patience is torched.

What about you?

My store gives senior discounts on Thursdays. I think that's stupid. Why not do it every day? I know a good customer who can't come in on Thursdays. Her friend who drives her, can only do it on Wednesdays. What woud be wrong with doing it every day? My father gets military discounts at lots of places. Lowes, Home Depot, etc. Those places honor the discount 100% of the time.
