Team Lead, Meat and Seafood (Coralville location)

This skills-based position oversees and directs all activities of our full-service retail meat and seafood counters at one of our three locations. The Team Lead will actively train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate staff to role model exceptional customer focused service while promoting New Pioneer’s brand and product lines.

 

Working Environment:

 

The Meat and Seafood Team Leader works in retail service counter, raw product preparation, and office environments.  This can involve frequent and extended periods of time in chilled and freezer environments working with a variety of natural animal products.  There is frequent use of potentially dangerous equipment and machinery used in the cutting and preparation of meat and seafood products as well as general computer, phone, and office requirements.  Extensive direct and interactive communication with customers, administrative support, and team members on the retail service floor and counter areas will be a daily occurrence.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Minimum of 3 years in retail restaurant, meat/seafood, or prepared foods sales environment as a lead, assistant manager, or senior department team member.

Meat/Seafood, prepared foods or restaurant knife skills with the ability to meet or learn New Pioneer cutting and product preparation standards (cutting tests required).

Familiarity with organic, natural, or commercial meat/seafood practices.

Supervisory experience—hiring, training, evaluating, directing, documenting.

Ability to read and understand financial statements in regard to margin and pricing.

Communications skills—good listener, clear instructions.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.

Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments individually and as a member of a team.

Ability to lift and carry 50 – 75 pounds on a regular basis.

This skill based position requires a committed schedule to include opening, closing, weekend, and holiday shifts on a regular basis.
