Hello! New member here and a recently made apprentice (although been cutting here and there, but its official now :p). My question is regarding wearing a glove on my knife holding hand. Company says to be bare handed but with blood and all, Im constantly having to wipe my hand and knife with a clean towel. Is there a special glove I can use that would be safe and effective? (and of course, I do wear a steel glove on my other hand) Any help is appreciated.
The company i work for has no rules or regulations on what we wear/don't wear. Most of us just wear a latex glove on each hand (just so we don't have to constantly wipe our hands of purge.) I think those steel gloves really get in the way of things and are hard to grasp meat and knives with.
I spent 3 1/2 years in the mid west packing houses. Everyone that entered the fab floor was required to wear a white cotton glove on each hand. No bare hands allowed. They can be purchased from Koch suppliers - I use and suggest the highest quality available. You will keep your hands a little warmer to boot.
Rinse, wrap and freeze until you have enough for a washer load.
jconstilts, you have a old dog here that never has used any type of glove in his 51 years of cutting and watch my cutters cutting with them, " thinking " how in the hell can they use those things lol
anyway here is you a link to where you can buy what you want.
