Anybody selling Pacific Grenadier fillets in their market? This is what they look like! Apparently they are very deep bottom dwellers and live down where the light can't reach. Looks like they're literally scraping the bottom for seafood these days.
Leon, they showed up in our meat cooler for lent this year! We've been selling them for $1.99 for a few weeks now. They're long skinny fillets and are selling pretty good at that price. I'd never heard of them before so of course I had to google it. I figured it was a fancy name for something hideous.
They're called rattails or ratfish by the fishermen.
JUst got a memo last week saying they were going to keep the price and $1.99 and it was very important to "clean these up ASAP." lol. Somebody down in the main office figured out what they really were too!
