A first for me.

I'm in charge of training a female to cut meat. Our wrapper to be exact. Not a big deal really, but it's a first for me. I think it's a good thing to get more women involved in cutting. She's got the mentality and motivation, along with tiny hands, but I've got to break her of her household knife skills. So far so good. There's always conversation...always... hmm

Best habit: Great worker--will develop good speed.

Worst habit: Handles the meat too much and slows her down. Get your mind out of the gutter.

RE: A first for me.

I've worked with women in most every shop I've been in. I've always enjoyed having women around the shop for multiple reasons particularly to bounce ideas off of. The only thing I've noticed is when the men and the women work together, there is WAY more complaining going on. The men complain about the women, the women complain about the men AND the other women AND everthing else. I sometimes miss the good old days of just coming to work and putting your head down and doing your job without complaining.

I sometimes wonder if the people who complain the most ever realize that the company that they work for GAVE them a job, a wage, insurance, a retirement plan, vacation time, personal time and possibly bonuses. It never ceases to amaze me how much a person will complain about the place that has given them gainful employment. Sorry, I went off on a tangent. But it drives me nuts.

all i got around me are women. there are 2 men in the whole store and like 15 women. right leon? you were there. most of them are pretty hard workers though and don't talk too much. the younger ones who work the evening shift do hate their jobs though and sometimes I wish they would just stay home. they make my last 2 hours miserable just by being cranky.

My first market manager was a woman. That was in the early 80's.

My first apprentice 10 years ago was a woman
Sandy turned out to be one the best cutters I have ever known
I can still remember her handling that whole beef loin
And she talked dirtier then I did
