Bi-Lo Holdings says the acquisition is another important step in the execution of the company’s long-term strategy. It says it will continue to fine-tune the company and its network of stores in order to reinvest in the company.

“We look forward to welcoming new associates in good standing to the Bi-Lo Holdings family and to building on the strength of these stores,” Randall Onstead, president and CEO of Jacksonville, Fla.-based Bi-Lo Holdings, says in a company announcement.

“This agreement will build on the strength of our Bi-Lo stores in South Carolina and coastal Georgia and allow us to provide the freshest foods and the best deals to a broader customer base,” he adds. “Customers will not see any change to the level of quality they have come to expect from Bi-Lo, Winn-Dixie or Piggly Wiggly.

Upon completion of the transaction, Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co., headquartered in Charleston, S.C., will be left with approximately 75 stores.
