As many here know, I have a few health problems now, it's getting harder to make my days in the market. When I get home I eat and fall asleep, guess it's time to be put down lolol I turned 65 on Aug 5 and it seems like all I want to do is sleep lolol
Monday the 21first i'll be in the meat business 50 years !! I have seen many changes in our business !! some good, some bad BUT one thing I can say is, " I HAVE ENJOY IT "!!
As for my health problems they seem to be getting better, my circulation in my feet is a lot better since being on the meds they gave me. Where I was working a few hours and having to stop to elevate my feet for 15 to 30 mins I now can make the whole day with only having to stop on my hardest days when I have to walk so much.
My Meat God ask me this past Monday when I thought I was going to retire as he wanted to put the new manager with me for eight months before I do. I told him I wanted to make it to September of next year if I could. He told me I could stay as long as I wanted even if I never touch a knife. So if I'm ok next September I may try to make it a little longer lol
When I took over my market 2 1/2 years ago it did 22,000 on it's best week, did 82,000 for the month. Last week I hit 41,000.00 and will do about 140,000 for the month, guess I need to stay till I get 50,000 in a week
I have miss being here and hope now that I'm feeling better I can be here more !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I HOPE EVERY ONE HAS BEEN DOING OK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Leon, Congratulations on 50 years in the meat business! I don't know if I ever have ever known anyone who has stayed that long. I hope to quit before 37, so maybe I have 6 more years.
I'm happy to hear that your health is improving. We missed you here.
50 years in the business. Thats a long time friend. How many cuts and stitches have you accumulated over the years? I'm a new customer here, but I've been in the business for 38 yrs. I'll try posting when I get the time off work.
Leon, ya got me by some 12 years on the experience part. When I hit 62 in just under 5 years I am off the block. Nufs enough. I do look forward to working lunch meat and perhaps offering some general advice from 62 to 65 though.
bikeshooter, I want to make it another year then I'm out except for here lol I want to work on this site make it bigger, better and reach more people in our trade. BUT if the wrong one gets in office this year I will see about 28% of my ISOP money go to taxs and may have to keep going part time some where.
Leon, 50 years is a serious milestone! From those of us who knows what all that entails--the serious abuse your body, not to mention your sanity, has taken--well DAMN! Congratulations for surviving.
Due to the economy our company has slashed payroll. They're cut out all our young help and are making us old dogs work twice as hard! Silly monkey, I thought I was already working too hard! It hurts, boys, it hurts! I've given up my nightly beer for a ibubrofen/maalox ****tail...
Leon this site misses you. Tell your boss we need you more than he does!
I think I never had much sanity !! that is why I stayed on and did the serious abuse to my body thing LOL
The years, cold, hard work, AGE has had it's fun with my body BUT I STILL LOVE IT !!!!
Never was much on beer, I loved the JD BUT know what you mean about giving it up at night and the party thing for a evening nap and 650 mg of percocet 3 times aday.
My company hasn't slashed payroll, we are hiring. My company does it's best when the economy is bad, they come to Save-A-Lot to SAVE A LOT lolol
