You want believe this, this is one of my Meat Gods, AND he is working !!!
I was short my cutting manager this past week, He was on his second week of vacation. I had inventory Friday, So my Meat God came to cut for me a few hours, actually about 5 hours.
As you can see he still knows how to take a break lol
I will give this one credit, He will help you if you need it. This makes three times he has put on a coat and helped me by cutting or wrapping.
He is a pretty good old boy, I don't mind having my pic taken with him, especially when you can't hardly tell who is beside him lolol
Hey meatmonkey, the guy that took the pic caught him as he was just starting, he didn't have time to get bloodly yet lolol In my 48 years he makes three that i've seen.
with A&P in my first years there was one named C.B.Baylock, he would come in, go get him a coat, apron, come back in and open his knife case, tell us we had him for two hours, what did we want him to do. What ever we told him he did. When he got through, he would walk the case, come back and write his report and leave.
The other one was Buddy Michael, in Atlanta,Ga. with A&P in the 70's, when he came in and you were behind, he would put on a coat and get right in there with you till you caught up. I've seen him stay 4 or 5 hours.
I can't believe that guy is actually smoking in the store! Reminds me of pre 1983. You'd get in huge trouble for that if you tried it here in California. I remember people smoking in the meat dept and having permanent cigarette burns on the wood blocks where the burning butts were often set.
My company only has 7 stores and our meat supervisor is actually a full time cutter too. Sometimes he may come to a store to transfer something out/in. He doesn't stay long. Probably because he needs to return to his store and get some work done. I have only worked with him once. We were short a few cutters and he got on the block and cut. No break. Just cut and help customers (conventional counter). He'll also help with customers for a few moments while at other stores.
This is extremely unusual and not seen at most other companies in N. California. At my previous company, stupidvisors never worked. I mean they didn't help in the meat production/display in any way. They would often come in when you're short on help, it's busy, and they say something stupid like "you're floor drain has a few tiny pieces of meat in it. You need to take care of that". Or they'll confront you about some paperwork not being done yet. Something stupid like temperature checks, floor sweep, fat content tests, clean up records signed and filled out, etc. The only meat case work that most stupidvisors do is they once a year or so, come in at midnight to "revamp" the case. They totally reset everything and draw a schematic and expect you to keep to it exactly no matter what's on sale, not matter whet you're short/long on. Not that's stupid I'm sure you know. Maybe in a three shelf case, that night they put small two rows of boneless pork chops on the small middle shelf. That's about 12 packages, maybe 18 if you put it three high. That may be OK at $5.99 LB, but the next week they put them on sale for $2.99 and they still want you to keep with they way they set it at midnight 7 days ago.
Hi Larry, glad to see you back around the broads, how vacction going, last week isn't it ??
Larry, we are in the peach state, Georgia. here you can smoke in a back room, it's not part of the public section of a store. But our manager requries we smoke at lest 50 feet from our doors going out into the store.
I also go back to the days of smoking in the markets, I remember some kept a ashtray on the meat block as we worked. and o yes the burns on the meat blocks, damn thats been yearsssss ago lol God you make me feel OLD lol
I love your spelling of supervisor ( stupidvisors ) lol you also gave the old man a flash back to a drain cover that had some meat scraps on it on. we did a 100,000 a week in this market and our auto wrapper was down and the a--hole was more worry about the drain than getting the wrapper fixed. And paper work, doesn't it amaze you how a meat market CAN'T run with out having your paper work done.
Last year a reset of my case by my Main Meat god is what cost me 4,000 dollars off my next big week, the reset lasted about three months and he call me and told me to put it back like I had it. then from there it took me 9 months to reach the point of sales that I had when he reset it.
Any way my friend, "GLAD" you drop in to comment. even if you make me feel "OLD' lol
