It's not uncommon to see chicken breasts with the neck still attached, but this had a bit more. There is this weird dark thing on the top that none of us had seen before - but our best guess was an eye. Just didn't seem right when there wasn't much else there to identify. But then I've never slaughtered a chicken so I couldn't tell ya :)

We do get a lot of mexican beef - not 100% sure on that one... think the chicken was american though - I work the bandsaw so I don't see chicken often :)
I worked in a poultry plant for a little while, my best guess is that it was packed that way on purpose, the way they take the head off after it is bled out, boiled and feather picked is while it is hanging by its feet it gets dragged through a set up that looks like a horizontal peace sign, as the neck passes down the line the head just gets pulled off, at that stage of process it would be impossible to make it all the way to final pack that way, unless it was coming from a small local plant, I worked at Louis Rich Turkey, and toured a Foster Farms plant. Louis Rich kills 18-20 thousand turkeys a day, and Foster Farms kills 60-70 thousand chickens per day, Kinda hard to wrap your head around those numbers but very true.
