Neat cooler! Lots of heals of rounds. I guess they'll clean those up later. The veal was cool to see.
The film is described as being from 1963, but I didn't see any early 1960s cars. In Roman Numerals, it says (I think) MCMLVII and that means 1957
at 3:27 Jack asks where is the fruit juice. Jack can be excused because he's just a boy, but usually that's an easy thing to find with the clearly marked aisles. A specific kind may be a different thing.
Misses Nelson should unbutton a few buttons at the top of her blouse.
The little girl "Betty" is one messed up kid if carrots are really her favorite vegetable.
All that food for $5.63!

i really enjoyed that too. I was thinking it was late 50s as well from the cars. That was really interesting in the meat dept. how do they get the ground beef into perfect squares? did they cut it frozen? I really liked the way the cooler was stocked. so different from today ..or does anyone still do that? wish ic ould have seen the meat prices on the tags.
I still get asked sometimes where the fruit juice is. People tend to start looking for it on the soft drink isle. Once found someone looking for it on the beer isle. I was surprised the perfect stock boy didn't get up and take him to it and point on all the different options. Instead he just pointed him down the isle.
Oh and Hey i think we finally found an old video of Leon. Missing the Drawl though. he forgot to ask missus Nelson to come back to the cooler with him.
If I did what Betty did putting **** in th cart my mom woulda net nuts on me..lol....oh the memory asking my mom if I could get 40 diff cereals and being told to smarting up ...lol

Ha ha. Good one about Leon.
About the square ground beef: We used to have a machine we'd attach to the grinder. We called it "the popper" or "the extruder. After grinding everything once (or twice), for the final grind, we'd attach the popper. A round sleeve was put on the head of the grinder and then the popper clipped onto the sleeve. The ground meat was forced down the popper and it formed the meat into the shape you saw in the video. Only it didn't do only squares. It could make that shape any length you want. We used two settings and had them marked. 1 lb and 1.5 lbs. You could set it to cut less than 1 lb and probably more than 2 lbs too. Or when the cutting part gave you problems, or if you intentionally set it to not cut, you could get any length you wanted. Oh, underneath the ground meat slab that gets formed, there was a roll of waxed paper. Looks just like a toilet paper roll. Same size and same kind of spool. These machines had a lot of problems, but if you knew how to deal with them, it wasn't a big deal. One thing though. They could be dangerous. Due to it's many problems People would bypass the safety that makes it impossible for it to cut when opened. Extremely dangerous. I'm so glad I never saw anyone get hurt. It came close a few times.
I asked about these machines in the old board but got no response.
