Do you get the days off you want, do you get two in a row, do you have the same off days every week.
Not bitching, I have a manager that does try to give me two days off together, It really helps me with my kids, having to set appts. some weeks he can't but two off in a row really helps
Thursday always off and then a sunday rotation, of work 1 and two off. I really like it but sometimes two days off in a row would be nice. I have 4 kids so all the appt I have I really need one set day off and my manager has been really good about that.
Wednsdays off and every other Sunday off, but lately its like I have to work 2 or 3 Sundays in a row. Love to take a couple days off sometimes. But its hard sometimes to find someone to cover for me.

First off, I need to point out for fairness that where I work, we all can get any day off we want once in while. The boss does try to accommodate all reasonable requests.
My definition of a reasonable request would be asking for one Sunday off to go to a football game or one Saturday off to go to a wedding (etc.). It wouldn't be reasonable to ask for EVERY Saturday off. A reasonable request is asking for an early shift in order to see you daughters after school play or go to "meet the teacher night". It's unreasonable to request ALL early shifts. Don't get the wrong idea. My current boss has a more easy going idea of what's reasonable than I do. He's OK.
I'm not comfortable requesting days off or even shifts on a specific day. I don't like the power trip some mangers have over it. If fact, they ask me for more schedule related favors (late changes) than I do from them.
It's always totally impossible for me to make plans for the following week because my schedule changes every week. Shifts change, and days off change. Many times I have had 5 different shifts in a 5 day week.
Supposed I have Tuesday off for 16 weeks in a row. I still can't count on that for the 17th week. If a friend calls and says "Larry, do you want to (can you?) play tennis Tuesday morning?", I have to tell him/her that I can't answer that until Thursday at 2 when the schedule is posted.
Days off are often split. Maybe once every two years, You get 3 days off in a row BUT you weren't informed that it would happen. It's a surprise and maybe too late to make plans to fully enjoy the 3 days off
These are the shifts that I can expect to work. I'm never surprised to get any combination of theses

Funny you asked this I will be having the first sunday off for 9 weeks ,over the summer months I work 7 days a week, as I need every penny/cent to carry me over the nasty winter months. My shop is in a village on the coast and is dead in the winter( apart from christmas) then in the spring the 7 holiday camps open and the village turns into a town hehe! for the summer.
