Workers at JBS USA’s beef plant in Plainwell, Mich., voted for representation with the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Union, the union announced late last week.
“Our efforts will now turn to negotiating a first contract with JBS that addresses the workers’ concerns,” John Cakmakci, UFCW 951 Secretary/Treasurer, said in a news release. “We are confident the union and the company can work together to achieve an agreement that is fair and balanced, and are looking forward to establishing a productive, long-term relationship with JBS.”
The 1,000 workers at the Plainwell plant now join 28,000 other JBS workers who are represented by UFCW, the union said.
Hi all, I was waiting for a friend in Accra and had about half an hour to kill. I opened https://ghanawebnews.org on my phone, just to see what it was about. I expected to scroll a bit and leave, but the layout made it easy to hop from one headline to another. I liked that the updates felt current, not days old like some other places I’ve used. That short wait turned into a useful reading session, and now I use it regularly when I’m on the go.
