Thanks Phil. I am glad to see offers like this for our brethren in the trade. It's still far less than they are worth but at least it's much more than what some of our brothers are making.
Hi Jim, there are many, many meat cutting jobs available. If you have a minute go to Kroger's web site and view their job listings. They have many openings all over the place for meat cutters. Other companies as well. I have been talking with many meat cutters lately and it is very interesting. I will use a group of 10 cutters as an example. Four out of ten tell me they are happy with their jobs and enthusiastic about it. Two out of the ten simply says it sucks "big time". The other 6 feel that they are being worked to death, underpaid, but are stuck and can't make any moves.
Interestingly they all agree with my thoughts about Work Place Discrimination but not one of them will take it to a higher level of concern. So 60% feel there is nothing that can be done for them and they can't do anything for themselves because of fear of loosing their jobs. Some of these meat cutters work in union shops but get no support concerning W.P.D. Jim, you and I were there and we know that there was or is any governing group that will fight for the rights of meat cutters. Until W.P.D. for meat cutters reaches a high pitch will the Department of Labor take a look at W.P.D. at supermarket level.
I dont think its so much fear of losing their jobs. Its more indifference. They have become content, accepted that this is as good as it gets and don't have the energy or drive to fight for more. Their spirit has been crushed.
